Yesterday marked Day 1 of my P90X2 journey. I did X2 Core yesterday and Plyocide today! I'm not going to lie, but I was pretty scared about starting this workout. I was pretty pumped about taking my fitness to the next level especially since I got amazing results from P90X. Now that I have reached my weight loss goals I have set new goals for myself. One thing people always say to me is, "you don't have anymore weight to loose and if you do you are going to blow away." I always explain to people that I'm not working out to lose weight anymore. I'm working out to keep my body strong, healthy and firm.
My fitness goals for myself are as follows: I want to build noticeable muscle so that I don't look like some skinny chick who starves herself! (I don't starve myself by any means) I want someone to look at me and say, "I can tell she works out!" So my main goal with my workouts is to maintain muscle mass and build feminine body mass. I certainly don't want to look like a body builder either. I believe there is a fine line between the two.
For those of you who don't know what P90X2 is, here's a quick run down! P90X2 is an elite fitness program designed for fit people, like those that have finished P90X. It takes you from fit to agile, strong to powerful and from good to great! It works your muscles at a whole new level to get you superfit. Since I have completed P90X I felt like I could totally handle P90X2.
Last week I spent some time reading over the nutrition guide that came with the program. Beachbody is amazing at giving you the entire package! They give you the fitness program, nutrition guide, supplements and the support of amazing knowledgeable coaches to help you through your program.
After reading through the nutrition guide I chose the energy booster plan! It's an even balance of protein, carbs, and fat. It's 30% protein, 40% carbs and 30% fat.
I figured out how much I should eat based on the formula provided in the guide and I am at Level B which is 2,400 calories per day! Wow kidz that's some serious calories, but then again P90X2 is a serious workout!
So next I took a look at the plans and the number of each part that I needed!
For the Energy Booster I need:
- 6 Proteins per day
- 2 Dairies
- 1 fruit
- 3 vegetables
- 1 fat
- 1.5 grains
- 1.5 legumes and tubers
- 1 condiment
- Snack (Single, bar, P90X results and recovery formula)
Then I went to the list of foods and checked them out! In conjunction with my handy white board that has the days of the week and lunch and dinner on it I was able to plan out my meals. It was a little tricky to figure out which category goes into what but I managed to figure it out. I realize that I LOVE fruit and it is going to be hard for me to cut back the fruit. Here is what yesterday's meal plan looked like for me.
Breakfast: Warm lemon water before I ate breakfast as a detox and metabolism jump start. Then, I had 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup almond milk with 1/2 scoop protein powder, 1 tbsp flaxseed, 1 tbsp wheat germ, and 1/2 banana. I also had 1 cup of black coffee.
Snack: 1 cup carrots with 1 tbsp hummus
Workout: X2 Core and afterwards I drank results and recovery formula
Lunch: Shakeology: 1 scoop chocolate shakeology with 6 oz water, 4 oz mint water (metro mint found at giant eagle) and ice in a blender.
Dinner: TurboFire Chili, my absolute favorite meal.
Snack: 1/2 cup greek yogurt (plain) with 1 orange cut up and a drizzle of agave nectar.
With lots of water in my day as well!
I was a little short on my protein for the day and I missed 1 snack but overall Day 1 was doable and it only took a little re arranging to get it down right! I am mainly following the principles of eating clean and combining them with the meal plan in P90X2.
Now for the workout! X2 Core was absolutely amazing! I loved the moves that totally worked your core in non traditional ways. My favorite was the FOAM ROLLER! I got some great new stretching ideas that will totally help with my poor posture and back issues!

Today was Plyocide and let me just tell you that at 5:30 am in the morning is ROUGH!! I needed a serious dose of energy to get through that workout. My legs were burning like mad! My favorite move of P90X2 was totally the PSYCHO BURPEE JACKS! I absolutely loved how he switched that up! I love that he uses the medicine ball to add up an extra level to your core strengthening!
I was working up a great sweat today and totally felt great after I finished the workout!
